So, last week Thursday I turned 43. Going into the day I was feeling tired and beat up as the week had already been a grind. I didn’t have high expectations for and easy day, because I couldn’t follow my usual tradition and play hooky from work for a solo round of golf. No matter I thought, I’ll just keep my head down and make it through a busy day and finish the week.
Per usual, I checked my email when I rolled out of bed, and unsurprisingly, there were a few Facebook notifications from friends who has posted to my wall to say HBD. Nice. Then, off to Twitter to have a look there, and yay, and few more people sending congratulations. Pretty cool, and much appreciated, but I didn’t have any idea what was yet to come: by the end of the day, more than 100 people had taken the time to wish me a happy birthday via Facebook, Twitter and plain-old-email. To say the least, I was surprised.
So, thank you to everyone who took the time to make my forty-third birthday a good one. I didn’t get to golf, but I did receive the gift of being reminded how many of there are that I can call a friend.
